This event is celebrating 40 years since the inaugural MLT Songwriting Award in 1980. The New Zealand Songwriters' Trust has enjoyed a long relationship with the Mataura Licensing Trust who have supported this award since its inception. This is a night to relax, enjoy good company and good food while celebrating our past winners as they perform live.

MLT Songwriting Seminar

Award winning singer/songwriter Kaylee Bell will be presenting at the seminar for the first time. Her experience in NZ, Australia and in Nashville will be worth hearing as she discusses the structure of country songs, melody and hooks and the importance of co-writing.
Jenny Mitchell, an award winning songwriter/storyteller based in Dunedin is also thrilled to be presenting at the seminar for the first time. Her unique writing style paints vivid pictures of landscapes, experiences and people, through the vessel of simple folk/country melodies. Jenny will be sharing her best songwriting tips on how to craft story-centric songs.
Join APRA AMCOS’ Head of NZ Operations Ant Healey for a relaxed discussion about music rights, copyright, royalties and the business end of songwriting.
